MDSI Introduces Suite of New Products and Partnerships in Booth D-4232 at
IMTS 2002!
A complete family of industrial automation products, new machine tools with
MDSI's OpenCNC®, a fully networked booth, and more, as MDSI launches major
global manufacturing and OEM strategy
CHICAGOManufacturing Data Systems, Inc. (MDSI), the leader in software
computer numerical control (CNC) and software motion technology, is showcasing
its latest technology CNC software, automation products, and OEM partners who
are introducing new machine tools and controls with MDSI's OpenCNC software, all
in MDSI's Booth D-4232 at IMTS 2002, in Chicago, September 4-11.
At IMTS 2002, MDSI will have something for everyone in manufacturing who seeks
to increase productivity, reduce operating and capital expenditures and increase
product and process quality. Three new machine tools or retrofit controls will
be introduced that have standardized with MDSI's OpenCNC control: an EDM
5-axis drilling machine, a BostoMatic® 5-axis mill, and a 4-axis horizontal
machining center. All three machines will be cutting parts and demonstrating
OpenCNC's high-performance robust control capabilities.
The booth will be fully networked to display the power of MDSI's family of
open architecture software control, automation and factory information productsMDSI
OpenCNC, MDSI WinMotion, and MDSI Factory Information Systemwhich will run
on a range of standard platforms and machine tools.
In the booth, MDSI will feature:
- OpenCNC Version 6.2. MDSI continues to set new standards and benchmarks for
performance, flexibility and choice for CNC controls. IMTS visitors seeking
better control choices for high-speed or five-axis machining will see the new
OpenCNC Version 6.2 in action and learn how OpenCNC's innovative software architecture
results in higher cutting speeds and improved part qualitymeeting the needs
of manufacturers from the aircraft manufacturer to the job shop. MDSI will
be demonstrating OpenCNC software on a wide range of PCs and servo systems
while controlling a range of CNC machine tools in the booth.
- OpenCNC for 5-axis Machining. High speed machining algorithms, expanded
probing, RTCPand customers reporting high quality surface finish and
accuracyfind out why OpenCNC is a premier five-axis machine control.
See OpenCNC running a 5-axis BostoMatic in the booth.
- WinMotion® 2.0 software. Based on the high-performance
open-architecture technology of MDSI's OpenCNC software, WinMotion is designed for the
general motion control or specialty machine control needs found in every factory.
Unlike other industrial automation suppliers, MDSI provides a common technology
and machine control platform for CNC and specialty machine tools.
- MDSI Factory Information System. Based on MDSI's patented real-time
data collection and distribution technology – Significant Events™,
MDSI is introducing the next generation factory floor information products
for discrete manufacturers. Linking the machine tool to the supply chain with
unprecedented levels of machine tool data, MDSI will demonstrate several new
products and technologies to support the data and information requirements
of Six Sigma and supply chain strategies.
- MDSI Standard CNC Workstation Package. Open systems means choice.
In order to provide manufacturers more choice in CNC machine tool control products,
MDSI is introducing a standard CNC workstation. It is based upon an industry
standard high performance NEMA 4/4X/12 industrial PC and 15” color flat
panel touchscreen monitor and industry standard Yaskawa or Rexroth Indramat
servo and spindle systems and a range of I/O systems. The new MDSI standard
CNC Workstation offers customers the convenience of a turnkey control package
while maintaining the choice, flexibility, and ease of upgrading of unbundled
software.
Visitors to MDSI's booth will also see how MDSI is helping OEMs enter new
markets with better solutions for their customers. Machine tool builders and
control builders who will be demonstrating machines with OpenCNC at IMTS include:
- Fryer Machine Systems, Inc. (Patterson, New York) will demonstrate the SX-30,
the first model in what will be a series of four SX Series machines, a new
line of high-performance five-axis machining centers. Location: Fryer Booth,
A-8043.
- G&W-Services, Inc. (Uxbridge, MA). Highly-regarded BostoMatic
machines can now be back in production with a new OpenCNC retrofit control package.
With a new 5-axis BostoMatic 305 in the MDSI booth, G&W-Services is introducing
its line of 5-axis machining centers and BostoMatic CNC retrofit packages.
Location: MDSI Booth, D-4232.
- Raycon Corporation (Ann Arbor, Michigan) will demonstrate a new 5-axis
machine tool and retrofit package for micro-hole drilling EDM (electrical discharge
machinery) system for the automotive industry. Location: MDSI Booth, D-4232.
- Telco Automation Ltd. (TAL) (Pune, India) and IIG (Orion, Michigan)
will be demonstrating the TAL H50-3 high speed 4-axis horizontal machining
center. Location: MDSI Booth, D-4232.
